1. Data Controller

Plix.Tools ("we", "our", "us") is the data controller responsible for your personal data in connection with the website https://plix.tools (the "Site").

Contact: hello@plix.tools  |  Contact Form

We do not have a designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) as we do not engage in large-scale systematic processing of special-category data. For all privacy enquiries, please use the contact details above.

2. Core Privacy Principle — No Server Uploads

Every image converter, PDF tool, calculator, generator, developer utility and browser game on Plix.Tools runs entirely within your web browser. Your files, images, documents and any data you enter into our tools are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

This is technically enforced by design — our infrastructure serves only static HTML, CSS and JavaScript files. There is no server-side processing pipeline for user content. A breach of our hosting environment cannot expose your files because we never have them.

3. Information We Collect

3a. Usage Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised information about how visitors use the Site. Categories of data collected include:

GA4 does not collect your name, email address or any directly identifying information. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. Data is processed under Google's Data Processing Agreement and their Privacy Policy.

3b. Contact Form Submissions

If you submit the contact form at /contact, we collect your name, email address and message. This information is processed by Formspree (our form backend) and is used solely to respond to your enquiry. It is not shared with third parties, not used for marketing, and is deleted when no longer needed.

3c. Browser Local Storage

Some site features store small amounts of data in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. Items stored include:

Key Purpose Retention
plix_theme Dark / light mode preference Until manually cleared
plix_consent Your cookie consent choice Until manually cleared
plix_recent_v1 Last 6 tools visited (for homepage "Recently Used") Until manually cleared
best2048 Best score in the 2048 game Until manually cleared
plix_rates_v1 Currency exchange rate cache (reduces API calls) Up to 1 hour

You can clear all localStorage data at any time via your browser's site data settings.

3d. Server / Hosting Logs

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare Pages, may automatically collect server access logs including IP address, request URL, HTTP status code, browser user agent and timestamp. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention and infrastructure diagnostics and are governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We do not use these logs for user profiling.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Processing Activity Legal Basis GDPR Article
Google Analytics (usage statistics) Consent Art. 6(1)(a)
Google AdSense (advertising cookies) Consent Art. 6(1)(a)
Contact form processing Legitimate interest (responding to enquiries) Art. 6(1)(f)
Cloudflare hosting / access logs Legitimate interest (security, abuse prevention) Art. 6(1)(f)
Strictly necessary localStorage items Legitimate interest (site functionality) Art. 6(1)(f)

Where we rely on consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the footer. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5. Cookies & Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. We use the following categories of cookies. The ePrivacy Directive (EU) and UK PECR require your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

5a. Strictly Necessary (No Consent Required)

These are stored in browser localStorage (not HTTP cookies) and are essential for basic site functionality. They include your theme preference (plix_theme), your consent choice (plix_consent), recently visited tools (plix_recent_v1) and game scores. No consent is required because they do not track you.

5b. Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)

Set by Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors interact with the Site. These cookies are only placed if you choose Accept All or enable Analytics in Manage Preferences. Key cookies:

Cookie Provider Purpose Expiry
_ga Google Distinguishes users (anonymised ID) 2 years
_ga_* Google Session state for GA4 2 years

5c. Advertising Cookies (Consent Required)

Set by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. Only placed if you consent to advertising cookies. Google may use these cookies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites.

Cookie Provider Purpose Expiry
IDE Google Ad targeting and measurement 13 months
test_cookie Google Checks browser cookie support Session

5d. Managing Your Cookie Choices

On your first visit you will see a cookie consent banner with three options: Accept All, Necessary Only, and Manage Preferences (for granular control). You may change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the site footer. You may also control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies will not restrict access to any tool on this Site.

We implement Google Consent Mode v2 — if you decline or select only necessary cookies, no analytics or advertising cookies are placed and Google receives only aggregate, cookieless signals.

6. Advertising

We use Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-4210148095902650) to display advertisements. Ad revenue is what allows us to provide all tools completely free of charge.

7. Data Retention

Data Type Retention Period Notes
Google Analytics data 14 months Configured in GA4 data retention settings
Contact form messages Up to 12 months Deleted after the enquiry is resolved
Cloudflare access logs Per Cloudflare's policy Not controlled by Plix.Tools
Browser localStorage Until cleared by user Never transmitted to us

8. International Data Transfers

Plix.Tools is hosted via Cloudflare Pages and uses Google services (Analytics, AdSense, Fonts). These providers may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or your home jurisdiction, including the United States.

Google LLC participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission (Decision 2021/914) for transfers of EEA/UK data to the US. Cloudflare, Inc. is also DPF-certified and uses SCCs. You can access Google's SCCs and Cloudflare's SCCs via their respective privacy documentation.

By using the Site and consenting to cookies, you acknowledge these international transfers. You may withdraw consent at any time, which will stop further transfer of consent-dependent data.

9. Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. How We Use Information

We use the information described in Section 3 to:

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

11. Your Rights

11a. EEA, UK and Switzerland — GDPR / UK GDPR

If you are located in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR (or UK GDPR):

11b. California Residents — CCPA / CPRA

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights:

Categories of Personal Information Collected (last 12 months): Identifiers (anonymised analytics IDs); Internet or other network activity (pages visited, interactions); Geolocation data (approximate, country/city level only); Contact information (name, email — only if you submit the contact form).

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell your personal information. To opt out of advertising cookies, click Cookie Settings.

To submit a CCPA/CPRA request, contact us at hello@plix.tools. We will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorised agent to submit requests on your behalf with written authorisation.

11c. Other US States

Residents of Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (ColoPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA) and other US states with applicable privacy laws have rights similar to those described above, including rights to access, correct, delete and opt out of targeted advertising. Contact us at hello@plix.tools to exercise these rights.

11d. Canada — PIPEDA / Quebec Law 25

Canadian residents have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, Law 25 (Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector). These include rights of access, correction and withdrawal of consent. Contact our Privacy Officer at hello@plix.tools.

11e. Brazil — LGPD

Brazilian residents have rights under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), including rights of confirmation, access, correction, anonymisation, portability, deletion, information on sharing, and the right to oppose processing. Contact us at hello@plix.tools.

11f. Australia — Privacy Act

Australian residents have rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), including rights to access and correct personal information held about them. Contact us at hello@plix.tools to exercise these rights. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Exercising your rights: To submit any privacy right request, email us at hello@plix.tools. We will respond within 30 days (or within the timeframe required by applicable law). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will not charge a fee for reasonable requests.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Currently, there is no uniform standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. Our cookie consent system already defaults to denied for all non-essential cookies until you actively consent — this provides strong privacy protection regardless of DNT settings. If you are concerned about tracking, please select Necessary Only in our cookie banner or use Manage Preferences to disable individual categories.

13. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Plix.Tools is not directed at children under the age of 13 in the United States or children under the age of 16 in the European Economic Area and UK. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at hello@plix.tools and we will delete that information as soon as practicable.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13 in the United States or knowingly allow such persons to use our Site.

14. Data Security

Because all tool processing is client-side, we never receive your files or tool inputs — eliminating the most significant class of data breach risk. For the limited data we do hold (analytics events and contact form submissions), we implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures, including HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) for all connections, enforced by Cloudflare.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority as required by applicable law.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, such as by displaying a prominent notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

16. Contact Us

For privacy-related requests, questions or complaints:

Email: hello@plix.tools
Contact form: plix.tools/contact

We aim to respond to all legitimate privacy requests within 30 days. If you are an EEA/UK resident and are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (see Section 11a).
